It also achieved a one-two finish. Olivier Pla, Alex Brundle and David Heinemeier Hansson finished as runners-up in the team’s no.24 car, rounding off a successful weekend for OAK Racing. The two crews finished seventh and eighth overall. Unfortunately, the third car entered by the team, the no.45 Morgan-Nissan Art Car, was forced to retire just two hours from the end of the race. Throughout the 24 hours, OAK Racing’s Morgan-Nissan LM P2s, created by its constructor department Onroak Automotive, dominated their category. This will be a huge complex by the side of the Yangtze river designed by Geoffrey Katzenberg where you can star in your own version of Shrek or Toy Story. The Morgan car dealership is in centre of the city in an area called Xin Tian Di. This is a conversion of traditional buildings into cafes and restaurants and some expensive boutiques. Morgan OAK Racing claims LM P2 podium at Shanghai season finale

Jacques Nicolet, Matthieu Lahaye and Olivier Pla rounded off OAK Racing’s FIA World Endurance Championship campaign with a satisfactory third place LMP2 class finish at the 6 Hours of Shanghai today, while the LM P1 lineup of Bertrand Baguette, Dominik Kraihamer and Takuma Sato finish seventh in the prenier prototype catergory. Sato finished seventh in the premier prototype category. Despite fine efforts from both driver crews, the French team feels the results fall below expectations given the true pace of its #15 OAK-HPD LMP1, which was making only its second appearance of the season, and Onroak Automotive designed and built #24 Morgan-Nissan 2012 LM P2 that finished fourth overall in this year’s final class standings after scoring four podiums in eight races. Nevertheless, these results do offer much optimism for next season. The battle for a place on the LM P2 class podium proved...

OAK Racing battles back to score podium in Brazil with the Morgan LMP2

OAK Racing scored their second FIA World Endurance Championship podium of the season at the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo today after staging a brilliant comeback drive. Olivier Pla, Matthieu Lahaye and Jacques Nicolet overcame a difficult opening 20 minutes that saw the Onroak Automotive designed and built #24 Morgan 2012 LMP2 fall a lap down following two spins to finish third in the highly competitive LMP2 class. Meanwhile the #35 sister car of Bertrand Baguette, Dominik Kraihamer and Alex Brundle was forced to retire at three-quarters distance with a fuel pressure issue after fighting for victory with the #44 Starworks Motorsport HPD. After surviving both a tangle on the opening lap and then a tap from behind 20 minutes later, Lahaye recovered well to move from eighth up to fifth by the time he handed over to Pla following his double stint. Shortly...

The season finale of the inaugural FIA World Endurance Championship will take place in China one day later than planned with the 6 Hours of Shanghai now on Sunday 28 October. The FIA WEC represents the popularity and attraction of endurance racing today on legendary circuits (Sebring, Spa-Francorchamps, Le Mans, Fuji, Interlagos, Silverstone), and...

OAK Racing to enter pair of Morgan-Nissan 2012 LMP2s in the World Endurance Championship

The recurring engine problems faced by OAK Racing’s LMP1 entry since the start of this season have forced the team to temporarily withdraw its #15 OAK/Pescarolo LMP1 from the FIA World Endurance Championship.  Instead, the French outfit will enter a second of its Onroak Automotive-designed and built Morgan 2012 LMP2s from the upcoming 6 Hours of Silverstone onwards. The #24 and #35 prototypes will both be powered by Nissan VK45 engines and appear in the legendary blue and orange racing livery of Gulf Oil International. Two of the LMP1’s driver line-up have been drafted into the #35 LMP2 fold for Silverstone, although both have previous experience of racing the Morgan. Bertrand Baguette’s excellent performance helped OAK Racing score victory in the recent ELMS round at Donington Park, while Dominik Kraihamer was on duty at Paul Ricard earlier this year.  Danish gentleman driver David Heinemeier...

Perfect team performance from OAK Racing brings Morgan 2012 LMP2 to victory at Donington

A combination of excellent strategy, pace and reliability helped contribute to OAK Racing claiming their first European Le Mans Series victory of the season at the 6 Hours of Donington today. The French team’s #35 Onroak Automotive designed and built Morgan-Nissan 2012 LMP2 of Olivier Pla, Bertrand Baguette and Dimitri Enjalbert ran faultlessly throughout a race that also saw the #24 Judd-powered sister car come home sixth. Having recorded his maiden prototype pole position on Saturday, Matthieu Lahaye maintained the #24’s advantage over his opening double stint while, behind, Baguette battled through to run third. Jacques Nicolet showed strong pace after replacing his team-mate Lahaye but later incurred a drive-through penalty for speeding in the pits. His misfortune would open the door for Enjalbert however who, making his LMP2 class debut this weekend, produced a very strong double stint – albeit one punctuated by...
